Hi friends,
Today, Folly House is releasing Outside Graceland, a collection of poems by Halifax/Kjipuktuk-based artist Andrew Neville.
Here’s a quote from Nigel Chapman, lead singer and lyricist of the band Nap Eyes:
I’ve known Andrew for years, but this was my first time reading his poetry. It’s not just that Outside Graceland helped me understand him more deeply, but also understand myself, and—though this might land differently for you—to feel less lonely; connected to others in my introversion.
Maybe this stems from how, although deeply introspective, Andrew’s poems don’t self-fixate, but are highly attuned to the presence and multitudes within others—and within nature, and within the interface of humans and nature. It’s the kind of resonance there’s no putting into words. So how do you depict it? Read these poems, you might find a way.
Nice.
Outside Graceland is available in our shop for $15 CAD.
If you live in Nova Scotia, there will be a launch event in Halifax on November 5, 4:00pm, at The Mouse Trap (Good Robot), 2736 Robie Street.
Thanks for supporting independent writers and publishers. Take care,
